Extra Credit -- Limerick

Heartbreak
By Mason Maslen

There once was a girl so in love
that it killed her when they were done
holding her head high
wanting to go cry
instead she took off in a run.

Little Girl Don't Look so Lost

Little girl don’t look so lost
No ones here to leave
Because in your own world, you’re the boss
So don’t wear your heart out on your sleeve

Things will hurt for a while
They’ll get better as you shall see
Also the hurt will go on for miles
Happy again you will be

Many things must change in life
That is what a person most fears
Even through all the strife
You will over come your tears

So please baby leave your world and come to mine
And I promise every thing will all be fine

As a child I always thought
The prince ALWAYS slays the dragon
and rescues the princess from evil hands.

So I sit, ever so patiently, waiting for the day.
Dreaming of a life that I once sought
I happen upon a memory of my dad in a stationwagon
leaving for the last time from this land.
He was in a hurry, and mother had tears in a bad way.

After running after him throwing stones,
she bent to her knees and cried.
It was cold, freezing in truth,
when she finally left that dirt spot.
wipes her face, lets out one final goan
and wisphers to herself the last thing he told her; lies.
she doesn't look at me and my youth,
As she walks in the door and locks.

I was 10 years old when I realized:
well apearently no princess is worth saving,
and princes will never trimph over evil.

Mother

(Non-Traditional Sonnet)

What is it to make you pleased?
I sit here and cry at words you’ve said
And yet it’s impossible for you to even ease
The tone you throw at me.

What is it to become better then best in your eyes?
Am I to look at others and lie,
like you have for so many years?
Then after you tire from mental harassment, join you husband and his beer.

Do you pick on me, and not my brother,
Because that’s what others and your mother
Tended to do to you?
And if so why make me blue too?

I’ve tried to make you happy with me,
But now I want my life to be what I see.
